It's okay, honey. I... I was just talking to the cornfield.
John Kinsella, Field of Dreams
Nick and I left work on Friday at noon and headed north through the corn and soybean fields to his childhood hometown in Iowa. Our plans included spending time with family, Nick's parents, brother and sister in law along with friends at a wedding on Saturday. Overall the weekend was a lovely time to catch up with everyone and enjoy a mini-vacation.
Here are my favorite photos:
Our first greeting at Nick's parent's home - Chance and Milo (he had a high dork factor with his silly cone, poor guy!).
We headed to a "luau" at Nick's parent's golf club (where Nick's golf career began!). The food was so good, especially the freshly picked sweet corn grilled and then dipped in butter.
Snuggling up with Norbert, the barn cat who I sneak inside for naps.
On Saturday we went just north of town to an area that has a large Amish population. Homemade goodies, soaps, candy, handpicked veggies were among the treats to be found. Here the Percherons were harvesting oats.
Beautiful barn behind a candy shop, see the traditional black buggy?
