Every child born into the world is a new thought of God,
an ever-fresh and radiant possibility.

Kate Douglas Wiggin

You're walking down the street and coming toward you is a woman with a puppy and a baby in a stroller.

Which do you reach for to coo at?

Hands down, I'd pick the puppy.

I'm just not nuts about babies. I'm an only child and I never grew up with lots of baby cousins or anything. I know that I want to have children but at this point in my life, it just isn't something I'm interested in right now.

So now that just about all of the people I know are married, they are now all having children. I can talk about weddings all day, but babies? Not so much. In general it is honestly not exciting for me. (Okay two exceptions, Angie and Heidi, I like talking to you both about Nick and Trey!)

That is, until I found out my dear friend Casey was pregnant. And I was going to be, for the very first time, Auntie Randall. Yippee - I'm so excited!

Casey is due in June and it is a boy. I am going to host a shower with my mom in April for her in Florida but I'm already looking at all the cute stuff, I can't wait! (Even though she is holding out on a name right now so I can't monogram a thing!)

I definitely can understand and appreciate your point of view (but thanks for the shout out, though!)

"To each their own", as my Mamma says. My sister loves Trey but she is not interested whatsoever in having children. She's 36.

So excited for your friend's good news and shower planning!!

Congrats Casey! I think baby fever grows on you but at this point, I'd say I'm much more a dog person too!

I have 3 babies and I still don't coo at other people's children. I always get looks saying this, but I really don't like kids! I LOVE my own, but someone else's? Eh. You'll have fun being an aunt - you can shower them with love and attention without having them wake you up at night!

I'm with you. I don't like all babies, normally just ones I'm close to. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Congrats to your friend! I have no doubt you and your mom are going to throw a lovely shower.

Yes I agree that the shower you throw will no doubt be lovely! And I was the same way before I got prego, not interested in other people's kids and I knew NOTHING! Still don't probably lol.
But when you're ready you'll know it.... ;)
