The belly rules the mind.
Spanish Proverb

Last night I went with Nick to Sam's Club to get some of the food for his (30th!) birthday party this weekend. We're not doing anything fancy but just needed to pick up ground beef for hamburgers, hotdogs, buns, chips, etc.

Do you know what ten pounds of ground beef looks like? Ew.

Anyway, Sam's Club is dangerous place with Nick. While I'm carefully selecting hamburger buns that are most economical by unit price, he finds it necessary to include things in the cart like:
  • a triple box package of Honey Nut Cheerios ("Randall, I eat a lot of cereal. It's a fact. It's divided out so it won't go stale. See?")
  • a gallon of salsa ("Who doesn't love chips and salsa?")
  • 5 lbs. of organic baby carrots ("Carrots are good for your eyes")
  • a 16" pecan pie ("Randall, it's delicious. Look at it. You should give it a chance.") - he had to put that one back.

So in addition to grilled burgers and yummy red potato salad party guests will also be able to enjoy a bag of twelve limes or a tub of white cheddar dip.

This is EXACTLY why my husband is not allowed to go grocery shopping with me!

Can't wait for the gallon of salsa! :>)

LOL - somehow my trips to Sam's always end up with a cart full of finds like that :)

Too funny! I would've let him keep the pecan pie...it's his birthday!!!

Mmmm, limes. :)

I would have given him the choice of pecan pie or birthday cake.

Some of the large items at sams crack me up. Like the can of tuna that is bigger than a stool. You could sit on it and use it as a chair.

Dan and I are the same way at CostCo...the things he thinks he needs and has to have! Guys are so funny that way.

The Boyfriend is the same way in any store -- "oh this looks good", "I bet these are great", "we should just try them"...

Ha! These places really don't save you money. I always end up getting very random items in bulk and never use them all. I guess if I had ten kids it might be a bargain. Thanks for all of your sweet comments on my blog! :-)

LOL!! My husband is the same way! It's like shopping with a child! :) Hope Nick has a wonderful birthday and you guys enjoy your weekend! :)

I love shopping there, but so much of the food we buy ends up going bad! It's only two of us so you can only eat the so many carrots for so many days in a row until you start to hate them...but hey, they didn't go to waste!
