There is magic in long-distance friendships. They let you relate to other human beings in a way that goes beyond being physically together and is often more profound.

I'm so excited because tomorrow morning, my friend Melissa arrives from Florida! I've known Melissa since my sophomore year of college when she pledged Tri Delta. We weren't close until we lived just feet from each other for three years in Florida while I was in grad school and then working. During that time we became dear friends and I count her as one of loyalist and closest (there aren't many of those!).

I cannot wait to catch up on everything with her all weekend and of course show her St. Louis!
