I'm a big animal lover and certainly a proponent for animals for all families, especially children. That's why I was so thrilled to see that the Obama family finally got their dog.
...and how darling is Bo? I think I may add a Portguese Water Dog to my list of dogs I think are just adorable!
Here is a great press release from the Portguese Water Dog Club of America about the breed and of course reminders for future owners about the responsibilities of owning a dog which I think is so important.

He is adorable! We actually researched Portugese Water Dogs back when we were trying to decide on a breed in 2007. They seem like great pets. I just hope every backyard breeder in the country doesn't start churning them out now!
He's totally adorable. i never knew much about this breed before, except what I saw on the dog shows.
I fear what Lucy says tho...everyone will prob try to capitalize on the popularity of the breed.
I'm just bummed they didn't go pull a shelter doggy. That pup probably set the gifting senator back close to $1000.... which would save about 10 shelter dogs :-(
